Description/Job Summary

Waste Water Treatment Technician, is responsible for operating the waste water treatment system that works alongside the mechanical plating line. A fully trained technician is expected to run all aspects of the waste water treatment system which includes machine maintenance and trouble shooting.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Operation of a waste water treatment system (Continuous Flow & Batch Treatment).
  • Charging treatment chemicals daily.
  • Operation of a multi-stage filter press.
  • Troubleshoot and repair specialized equipment: pumps, valves, piping, pH probes, flow meters, etc.
  • Work closely with the plating line to maximize production.
  • Ensure the daily history sheets, and all other related paperwork is filled out correctly and accurately, making sure all data is recorded, using proper forms and internal systems.
  • Operate the forklift truck once trained, and transfer raw/finished materials around the production area safely.
  • Reduce unplanned stops and maintain production requirements.
  • Understand and demonstrate that Safety and Quality comes first, and lead by example.
  • This position reports to the Rivet Operations Production Manager.

Required Skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Detail Oriented
  • Extremely reliable and team-oriented.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. several times per shift.

Required Experience

  • Previous waste water experience, especially in the field of metal precipitation preferred.
  • State certified waste water certification in neutralization or chemical clarification.
  • Familiarity with J-Mark waste water treatment systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the chemistry of the plating process and waste water treatment process.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of both Acids and Bases. (pH precipitation of various metals)
  • Strong mechanical and chemical aptitude. Must be able to demonstrate some level of mechanical/chemical experience and/or training.

Required Education

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • State of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality certification required.
